With one win away from the playoffs, Passers came out with another strong 2192 rated team. Massachusetts, already being out of playoff contention, used this opportunity to give some of their up and coming youth players a chance to get some competitive games under their belts. While only rated 1846, this team of youngsters showed a lot of potential with their board 2, Oskar Zoffer, with a solid 2-2 result including a win over our board 2, NM David Grasso.
After a final 11 point result we find ourselves in the playoffs facing off against Michigan in 2 weeks time! Finishing the season with a 5.5 out of 7 this secured second place a half point behind Michigan and a half point ahead of New York.
Game of the Week
While John Mullanaphy was our Player of the Week with a 4 point result, the game of the week goes to Ethan’s last round game against a tough Santhosh Ayyappan. Finding himself with a solid position out of the opening, Ethan was given the opportunity to explode white’s kingside for a decisive attack.
